There are a number of things that you can do right now that will make an impact and help you rank on Google before the end of the year.

By following these basic tips and strategies, you will lay the groundwork not just for a successful end of the year but also for a strong 2021. This groundwork will also provide your site with visibility and rank you higher on Google. SEO is one way to bring traffic to your website through Google and other search Engines.

Here are 5 SEO Tips for you to implement this year:

Create Evergreen Content

One thing I suggest doing to generate SEO traffic to your website is to create long-form, in-depth posts about a topic. This is a type of post that Google absolutely loves, a piece of content that does not have an expiration. This type of content isn’t timely and can be shared in the future and you can even use it in your social posts several times down the road. Long-form content, generally more then 2,000 words, has longer staying power than short pieces of content and tends to outrank short pieces. When I worked in the tourism industry, I would create these guide pieces, Fall Guide, Winter Guide, Summer Guide, etc; that could be used during those seasons besides our general blog posts. These guides could be referenced for longer periods of time and numerous social posts could be generated from them. These reference content guides would continue to attract links and traffic and rank high with Google.

Power of Video

I have said this in numerous posts, video is king. Video marketing is a huge traffic source that should be utilized. Video content is great for SEO and makes for good user engagement. Users are watching more video online than ever before. They will like your video, share it with their social networks or in private messages, and even comment on the video. There is a very high probability that a user will have time to watch your short video than to ready your couple hundred word piece of content. Video marketing has been growing and growing and is going to continue to grow in the upcoming year. The videos on your website can be indexed and Google will find them to show in search results. Video is great snackable content for social media as well.

Think Mobile First

Think about your own online habits. What device do you use to search the internet? Mostly likely you are using your smart phone. In today’s world, Google considers the mobile version of your site to be the primary version of your site. Which means, people are visiting your website on their mobile site more than they are visiting you on their laptop/desktop. Users are also going to the mobile version of your website first. You don’t need to versions of your website, you just need to make sure that your website is mobile responsive. That way, your site will adjust to wherever the user is viewing your content.

Write for Humans then Search Engines

Google is going to crawl your site either way. When you start writing the content on your website or blog, put your audience first in your writing. Think about what they’re looking to find, solve, or learn with your content. Once you figure that out, determine how you can make your readers learning and understanding of the topic easier through the content structure, page design and imagery. You want users to find you via Google search, and once they do, you want them to feel connected to the content your write and you brand. You also want them to keep coming back to your site. You will get the most out of your SEO program if you put your audience first.

External and Internal Linking

Linking to other content is important and a key strategy in your SEO plan. Linking is actually one of Google’s core ranking factors. If you internally link and externally link to other content other content, that demonstrates to Google and the other search engines that you have a healthy website. It is okay to link to an external website, just make sure that it is a reputable site and one that you trust. Think of it as a referral. Using internal and externally linking can help enhance and back up your content.

Are you ready to get started with these SEO tips? By doing these things, you will not only enhance your website but you will be attracting new visitors to your website, along with leads.
