Streaming of NFL Games on Amazon Increased in 2017

streamingAs more and more people cut the cable cord, the rise of television streaming has grown in popularity. The 2017 NFL season marked the first season of a partnership between Amazon and the league for streaming Thursday Night Football games. With one season now in the books, Amazon is reportedly looking to build of it’s first successful season, where they say viewership of the Thursday Night Game on Amazon Prime rose 17%.

Amazon Prime took over streaming the Thursday Night NFL games from Twitter. In their first season, they built on the audience Twitter had in 2016 with the averaging per-minute audience for the 11 games hitting 310,000, which equals the 17% increase from Twitter’s numbers.

How I Cut the Cable CordI have been thinking about cutting the cord and getting rid of cable for awhile. We already had Netflix and we had the Roku streaming player. Our son was mainly watching Netflix and my wife and I were getting sick of paying well over $100 every month for channels that we didn’t watch. Plus, we always complained about not finding anything on TV that we wanted to watch. Even though my wife was ready to cut cable, like most people, we stayed a prisoner to the cable company simply because I didn’t know how to get rid of cable without missing out on my favorite TV shows, and live sporting events. I was holding out as there was no easy way to watch my local sports teams. Sound familiar?

After spending many hours researching cutting cable and soley streaming, I finally decided to cut the cord and get rid of my cable TV provider, AT&T Uverse in April 2016 when our year contract was up. I can honestly say that we will not be going back to cable, as we are saving over $80 a month, by just cutting our cable. I did stay with AT&T Uverse for our Internet.
