Why Start Healthy Digital Living Blog

Why start a blog called Healthy Digital Living? I had set-up a generic blog years ago, that I would randomly post things to. I concentrated so much on the brand and company that I was working for and didn’t really brand myself. In December 2015, I felt it was time that I started to get some of my thoughts and knowledge out of my head and on paper, as there was a lot going on in there and it would provide me with a place that I would lose or forget my thoughts. My wife was on a journey of weight loss and healthy eating and I kept hearing the questions that people were asking her about it. I kept telling her and myself, we should start a blog about it and educate people. But yet, I wanted someplace to share my marketing knowledge, from there Healthy Digital Living was born. 

I found a layout that my wife and I both liked but it had 3 sections, so I started with a Marketing section, Healthy Eating section and a Running section. The marketing section focuses on my marketing knowledge and experience that I have gained over the past 9+ years. I was previously employed for 9 years in the Travel & Tourism industry, and now I am a Senior Digital Strategist & Consultant on the agency side. My content is skewed to my experience in the travel & tourism industry and my marketing knowledge that I have gained over the years. I believe the concepts that I have experienced and learned are applicable to any industry. You never know what the future holds and I wanted a place to build my personal brand. We grow and learn everyday, so I hoping this will help me build my personal brand, as well as improve my writing skills, HTML knowledge and stay on the cutting edge of digital, social and marketing trends.

I dedicated a section to running as I ran my first half marathon in May 2015. I was thinking I would share my experiences and mistakes to running the half marathon plus my training for another one. As I was developing the site, I realized that it may be more beneficial if I have a section about travel instead of running. Something I know more about with my experience in the tourism industry. My thought is this section would be geared towards our travel experiences and tips and suggestions that we have gained along the way. Plus, I will do some reviews of our travel every now and then.

The healthy living portion of the blog comes from my wife, Andria, making the decision on June 1, 2015 to change the way we have been eating and get healthy. Andria started the Isagenix program and changed not only her diet but the diets of myself and our son, Carter. The motivation behind the change was to live a healthier lifestyle, fuel our bodies better and be around for our son for many years to come. Not only was the change beneficial from healthier bodies, due to weight loss, but it had an affect on us financially, as we were not eating out as much, and we were cooking healthy meals at home. When we do go out to eat, we watch what we eat and where we go. The entire family is on the Isagenix program and it definitely has changed our lives. This portion of the blog will focus on the healthy meals that we make / eat and some of the health food products that we purchase.
